INLD MP Demands new Rail Division for North & a train to connect Hisar-Chandigarh via sirsa

Chandigarh, 9 March : Hisar MP Shri Dushyant Chautala has hailed the series of announcements made by the Union Railway Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu in this year's Railway Budget. Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Railway Budget, Shri Dushyant Chautala started his speech with these lines, "If the train doesn't stop at your station, it is not your train.

Today the mentality is that everyone is asking for new trains. But I have a different view point and I congratulate Shri Suresh Prabhu that instead of going mad over announcing new trains, the centre government and the railway ministry, in the last two years has laid emphasis on improving the facilities in the trains."

Shri Dushyant Chautala further informed the parliament that recently, Shri Suresh Prabhu alongwith myself had visited the Railway Line Colony in Hisar and found that the staff quarters were in complete shambles. He further said that it was matter of immense happiness that in this year Railway Budget, the Minister has cleared the construction of 23 new quarters. "The approval of budget of Rs 9.5 crores for a washing yard at the Hisar junction is another welcome announcement. The decision for having Over The Counter (OTC) centres for the sanitary and other basic items at main railway stations was the need of the hour", asserted the youngest parliamentarian.

Shri Dushyant Chautala also said that the budgetary allocation of Rs 2 crores for Hisar for the electrification of the trains is another step in right direction. Speaking about the railway accidents, Shri Dushyant Chautala said, "I would propose that on the lines of the Agri Insurance Scheme, the Railway should also start an insurance scheme for which the premium could be deducted from the railway ticket by introducing a surcharge on the train tickets." He demanded that the Kurukshetra-Haridwar train project is pending from long time and needs to be completed at the earliest.

Shri Dushyant Chautala also said that a new Railway Division for the North is required. "My Hisar parliamentary constituency falls in three divisions - Bikaner, Ambala and Delhi. There is need for a new Rail Division." He further said that Hisar-Sirsa-Chandigarh is 210-km patch and a seven coach train should be approved for this stretch. "We were very happy over the budgetary allocation of funds to the tune of Rs 400 crores for laying 93-km railway line for Hisar-Agroha-Fatehabad. But when we got the copies of budget, only Rs 10 lakhs have been kept. With this much amount one can dream of a project but cannot see it becoming reality", concluded Shri Dushyant Chautala.
